Why so long for wireless to connect?

Until recently I had no problem with my Netgear adaptor on my PC connecting with my O2 wirless box II. But this last week it has started taking about 15 minutes to connect  .
Both my children have laptops and they have no trouble connecting as soon as they boot up.
Anybody any ideas why this has suddenly started taking so long?

its a well known problem. the netgear wg111 drivers are a waste of time and netgear doesnt seem to be bothered at all. despite numerous complaints.
i know somebody who deletes his drivers and reinstalls them every day! he says it works!Get some gorm.0 -

Thanks but why did the Netgear work fine for the last 2 months and has only been a problem starting this week.
Perhaps the answer is to buy another adaptor but before I do that I need to be sure what the problem is. If I have to buy another adaptor which will work best with the O2 Wireless box II?Regards

that being the case - that it just affects your laptop - i would run a virus scan. i've seen this happen before; probably unlikely, but u might want to do so just in case.BLOODBATH IN THE EVENING THEN? OR PERHAPS THE AFTERNOON? OR THE MORNING? OH, FORGET THIS MALARKEY!

You are given the option when you install the software, so you could uninstall/reinstall.
I think there is an option in the netgear software config, but can't remember where, you might be able to do it from this screen (control panel, networks, wireless. properties, wireless networks)
Yes this enabled me to let windows manage the wireless network but unfortunately this did not solve my problem as it still did not connect to the router wirlessly. I have had to resort to using the ethernet cable now which meant moving the modem / router. What a pain:mad: .Regards
