Yes it will. And you can also do Save As in Open office and save it as a word doc so that other people can open it easily

Office 2003 no problem. Office 2007 more problematic. For the current 2.x versions of OpenOffice you will need to install a translator program. For 3.0, which is currently in late beta, you will be able to open the Office 2007 documents without any additional software.0
