My Mcaffee subscription has just run out (yeah!!) and I need a new one - but don't have the £30+ some places want.
I tried goggle AVG - and masses of places came up to download for free. Now, I have no idea what these places are, so I came here!
Whats the best free one to use, and where can I get it safely???

Yep AVG is good (I use it) and Avast is supposed to be good.
If you want a firewall try Sygate Personal Firewall - its free and very good.
Also Spybot Search and Destroy and Ad Aware will keep your PC free of any nastiesWycombe Till I Die0 -
Not forgetting if you ever run a scan using AVG do it in safe mode.
Usually tap F8 on start up.0 -
If you have a look at Techie FAQ's under Internet Security you'll find a lot of helpful links provided by moneysavers for free and/or good software.Torgwen..........

Oh ok if you run a AVG scan run the scan in safe mode i.e.
restart PC and tap F8 to go into safe mode then run a scan then after scan
completion restart PC as normal, as for Adaware run with system restore off then scan then turn back on syustem restore..http://www.pchell.com/virus/systemrestore.shtml0 -
My friend reccomend Avast she is a programmmer have been running it with six friends none have ever had a virus https://www.avast.comAre U getting enough Vitamin D in your life!?0

Funnily enough a virus will get past any AV program or more importantly
E-mail or a non-firewalled system, as Avast will remove some things that
AVG wont and vice versa, as stated in a c-net poll they both get the same rating.0
