Comparing rates without previous bill

Hi everyone. I've just moved to Glasgow having graduated. I'm about to move into a new apartment, but obviously don't have any previous bills.
How can I compare the rates of different elec+gas suppliers? Every price comparison site demands to know what my current bills are. Isn't there a table somewhere that allows me to compare per-unit rates?
Thanks!

Not that I'm aware of, what you can do is use a comparison site like energyhelpline, put in anything for your current usage or use their estimator.
Then on the results page you can open the popup with your rates in then the rates of the tariff you are thinking of looking at.Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
Thank you... pretty obvious now that I think of it but without you I didn't
I'll try a series of increasing useages to compare... my tentative research suggests different suppliers charge one rate per kw/h up to a certain threshold, and then a slightly cheaper rate per kw/h thereafter, but of course that threshold varies from supplier to supplier ... !
Thanks again !0
