Hi I need help. i'm having a disney wedding in april 09 and i now have to start to pay for it, but unfortunatley the dollar has decided to drop in value. can anyone tell the best way for me to pay disney and also get the best value for my money so i don't have to pay more in GBP's than i need to.
i need to pay a small sum of $2000.00 now and then the remaining $22000.00 in january 09.
thanks

You could go to Eurodisney and have a bit of change to build a magic kingdom at the bottom of the garden.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

Well thats what dreams are made off and I wish you a fantastic time! It will be magical I am sure.
No one knows where the dollar is going, but sounds to me like you need a "forward contract" This allows you to book the rate now for a time to be delviered in the future. You cal talk to your bank or even First Direct or have a look at xetrade.com which is who I always use. The service is free of all costs.
Do you have a US bank account?
Do you have a fee free credit card like a Nationwide or Post Office? Maybe you could use that?
Or what about a 4 or 5% cashback bard?Self confessed Florida expertwith over 320 trips there!

20k as in £20,000 or 20k as in $20,000
Either way, make no wonder you are on a MSE forum!
My wedding cost a miniscule fraction of £20,0000 -
$24000 is £12000 in todays money roughly, so not as bad as when you first read the post, saying that i wish we had had £12000 for our wedding, i think ours came in roughly a quarter of that, and it was still the best day of our lives, Dave
EDIT: my advice if it means anything is pay for it as soon as you can, cause if the dollar starts rebounding(highly unlikely given the state of affairs in the states at the moment, but then again it seems we are heading the same way) you will end up paying alot more for the weddingTake every day as it comes!!0 -

Unessasary comment I feel! Why im on MSE in none of your business and I was purely commenting on what is considered by many as the average price, paid for a wedding all be it in the UK. Obviously you have no idea about the average price paid for a UK wedding, so perhaps before making comments and assumptions you could take the time to check you facts.
According to https://www.weddingsday.co.uk
Depending on where you look, recent reports cite the average cost of a UK wedding at anywhere between a huge £15,000 and a staggering £25,000, with the average figure settling around the £18,500 mark.
I hope the OP has a fab Disney wedding and I for one think its a fantastic idea and how the OP chooses to marry and spend their money is in all honesty a their business.

If you drop the guard that has shot up a thousand miles per hour you will realise it was humour not a dig.
For someone who shells out $24,000 on a wedding you rally do take things too seriously.
Perhaps if you'd rather people kept their comments and ideals to themselves you should keep yours to yourself too.0 -
angel- Just a heads up that there is a dedicated forum for Disney brides planning their weddings at www.disboards.com- There are quite a few british brides on there that will be able to advise!Competition Challenge 2007 - Win your internet fees back in prizes = £349.87/£1560
