in Credit cards
Hi,
I have recently booked some airline flights with a broker for a major airline. I purchased the tickets online and recieved confirmation and the e-tickets. I have checked my statement and no payment has been taken other than the booking fee. It has been about 3 weeks and they still havent taken payment. I was concerned that we may not have our seats so phoned the airline direct only to be told that we had a confirmed booking and the payment has been taken then went on to book our seats. now the balance on my credit card is zero. we go in less than 2 weeks. Does anyone know if there is a time limit for companies to take payment????? and if the payment still hasnt gone when we get back should i cancel the card???
any thoughts?
thanks.

Why? You'd still be liable for the cost of the flight, and it'll still be tied to your account, whether or not the card was still 'valid' or not.
You aren't trying to get away without paying for this flight are you?Conjugating the verb 'to be":

I think it is about 6 months.
My husband once bought some cinema tickets at self service machine in a well know cinema chain and it took 3 months before they took the payment.
Why on earth would you cancel the card. You bought the tickets so have to pay for them anyway.
And even if you cancel a card it stays open for another year to 18 months. This is in case you subscribe annually to something. So you would still get a bill for the flights. So it is pointless.

Also, since some CPA's (eg Sentinel card protection) are 3-yearly, if you've only just paid it (and failed to cancel it with the CPA originator) they'll re-open the account in 3 years time as soon as the transaction is charged to the old account number.0 -
You made the booking you have the tickets so you owe the money. However, if nothing happens for 6 years, the debt should become statute barred.0

a pending transaction can stay on a credit card for 6 years and 1 day!0

if they have not taken the payment yet and you ahve spent the money you will get hit for overlimit charges when they do take it. You would need to get money back onto your card to pay this transaction.TOTAL 44 weeks lose. 6st 9.5lb :T0 -
