Washing machine problems

I'm a student living away from home and moved into a new flat in September. Our washing machine was working fine but after a week it suddenly stopped working. So after many phonecalls with our lanlord we eventually arranged to get it fixed, after more than a month of pleading with him.
When it got fixed it proceeded to blow up after only one wash. After contacting the technician, he told us it would be very expensive to get fixed as the whole circuit board had blown and was no longer in warranty. So after telling the landlord he said he would just buy a new one for us.
So now we have been waiting for this new machine for nearly 2 weeks and still he shows no interest whatsoever in helping us. Every time we speak to him he says he get it in the next couple of days but obviously we still haven't got a machine.
I was wondering if anyone here has any advice on what i could do, what people could help me out as this is really annoying and we are getting extremely annoyed with the whole situation. Thanks in advance for any help

Do you have a contract with the landlord that states he is resonsible for replacing faulty goods? If you do I would get in touch with your CAB and ask their advice. Personally I would tell him I wasn't paying any more rent til the washing machine was replaced but I don't know if thats legal etc thats just me being a crabbit cow!0

tell the landlord that if he isn't going to get one then you get one and take it out the rent, you can get a half decent one for about 85 quid with 6 month warranty or new one for prob 150.
wots wrong with the machine0 -
All residdents chip in with £20 each and ask the landlord to contribute £50 and you have a new machine (nearly). Check Which? in the Liabrary for a workable cheap brand.0
