Debt Free before im 35 anyone want to join??

Hi Everyone,

Well today is a big day for me I have just reduced my overdraft by £200:j
I have the following to pay back:

£1500 Credit Card
£400 Overdraft
£15337.55 Bank Loan (The Biggie)

I currently pay the minimum amount on both Credit Card and Bank Loan £39.00 and £278.00 respectively. Which if I work it out will mean that it would take approx 19 years to pay back my credit card and 6 years to pay back my bank loan - not good!

So..... here is the plan firstly get another part time job - in process of applying. The extra money I earn will pay off my credit card then my loan. I have asked for overtime at my full time job and there will be a bit going in September so will be able to pay off my overdraft with that by November.

Who wants to join me? I have limited myself to £20.00 a week to spend after all bills incl food petrol etc. I have also stopped smoking (was 5 a day but all makes a difference) not smoked for 2 weeks now. It is unlikely that I will spend £20.00 a week because I am very determined and would like to put all my pennies to good use!

I will be online most evenings so would be great if you can all join in!!

We can do it!:T

Oooooo I better be debt free by 35!!! I was 33 weds just gone, actually, would be nice to be debt free by 34 but might be pushing it a bit! Good luck, you sound very determined, just make sure you dont burn yourself out!!
  • Forgot to say Im 30 in October. So a realistic target I think. Each time I pay a bit off I will reduce my limits.
So far I took out £20.00 yesterday and have not spent anything yet.
Have re-discovered the library so no more buying books.lol

Good luck, keep us updated on your progress x
  • Thanks everyone for your support. I don't think i would be able to do it without this websites support. It really makes a difference. I have promised myself a short break holiday when I have paid off my overdraft and credit card. So that should also help to keep me motivated.

Then it's on to the biggie bank Loan payoff. Lets show those banks we can do it!!

Quick update I have just cashed in some left over holiday currency and all my pennies/two pennies to give me the grand sum of £53.00 off my overdraft.:j Hurray

  • There are many debt relief programs, but there is always a way to gain A1 Credit. I represent the TUE club that has helped people with this and beyond for 15 years.

    Good luck!
  • I always wanted to be debt free by 35 but my lightbulb kept dimming and it's now seeming very unlikely. :o So, I've tweaked my target a bit to debt free AT 35. :D

I just turned 34 so that gives me up to 2 years before I'm no longer 35 and hit my 36th birthday. Gonna be a struggle, but fingers crossed.

First debt to go will be my student loan which has low interest and will finish early next year through normal repayments. So I'm ignoring that and setting barclaycard *boo hiss* as my number 1 target. Then onto the next and so on.

Not sure if it's possible to be completely DF in that time frame - life being unpredictable 'n all - but I'm up for a challenge :T

Student again now and trying to fight the debts that are creeping up again
