Photo printer
I am looking for around the £70/£80 mark
I have these two printers in my sights
Canon PIXMA iP4200 Photo Printer (£75.99 - ebuyer)
Or
Epson Stylus R300 (£78.99 -amazon)
Can anyone give me some advice on which would be the better buy?
Thank you for any advice given

I've got the R300 and it's brilliant.0

Do not buy anything until you have thoroughly researched the considerable running costs! You may also consider the life of the inks - you don't want all your printouts fading away in a year or two.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0

The cheaper printers have smaller ink tanks so cost more to run.
Work out what you think you will print, work out the cost of ink and paper.
Photo paper is not cheap.
I went for a Canon becuase the print head was not built into the print head, Canons use dyes not Pigments like the Epson. Canons I found simpler to refill.
Buy the microfilter inks for the Canons as the normal refill inks will clog the Canon printer heads!
I use selectafont for inks. Bought my inks with the printer over 2 years ago never had to buy a single cartridge!
Also many print directyl only CD/DVD so get one of those if you want this feature?Seth.0 -
Yup i have done some reading & i am leaning towards getting a Canon as well .. but i just wanted to know if the R300 from epson has major advantages over the canon.
i will be doing some comparisons toright to try work out what is best.

We're on our second Canon - 2 reasons..
All our camera stuff is Canon & their software doesn't clash/confuse any other programmes.
Also, when we had a problem, with the first one, years back - THEY SENT A MAN TO FIX IT HERE!!
On a £120 machine - how they justified that, I'll never know!!
& when we get a video cam, it'll be Canon, too!!

I've got Canon cameras, and at present a Canon printer, but the print head's gone and its out of warranty. Disappointed as my old Epson lasted much longer or should I say had a lot more use.0

I've got Canon cameras too but Epson scanner and printer. If you are going to use genuine ink (and you'd be silly not to at least while it's under warranty) then Epson is the way to go. Genuine Epson inks can be found at half RRP and beats Canon prices by miles. I've recently bought a complete set of 6 + 2 extra black genuine retail carts for £36.0

Any particular Epson?0

Noticed on e-bay that Canon Uk have an outlet store, looks to be some good priced printers (and other Canon stuff) available at regular intervals. Apparently it's the usual box damaged/manufacturers repaired items, all looks to come with full 1 year manufacturers warranty.0
