I think scalps develope sensitivity to repeated hi-lift tinting.
Thats why I stopped going blonde & went back to brown.
My scalp slowly seemed more irrated after each time I had the roots done.
Me too. Next time I am near Boots I shall look for the Nizoral shampoo, failing that I will have to get nasty stinky T Gel shampoo! I've never thought to ask the doctor tho.KEEP CALM AND keep taking the tablets :cool2:0 -
Yep I am pretty sure that your scalp sensitises to hair dyes - that's what happened me anyway and I now have to be very very careful about shampoos etc. I have been using oliatum lately for a very bad scalp flare up. It is a bit faffy - two applications to be left on several minutes - but it really has eased it. I did used to be able to use tgel but it has now started reacting on me as well.
And I'd say be very careful about dying your hair again since you might make your condition even worse...0 -
The good new is I now use brown dye no problem (not as harsh as the hi-lift tints),
the bad new, I now have a few greys so I have to dye it:mad:

thanks for all your replies,i have got some t gel in as oh uses it but after reading the label it says 'may discolour blonde hair'
im off on holiday on monday and cant ruin my hair;)
its fine all day but its wierd as its only on a night
oh and it wasnt at a salon,my friend is a hairdresser and she got the tints and did it at home
its my fault as she used to just highlight it for me which was fine but then a few months ago i decided i was fed up and bought 2 boxes of nice and easy hair dye,did it myself and it went orange at the roots and where my highlights were it was blue:eek:
so my friend took me to her salon and 'fixed' it for me so this is only the 2nd time ive had this dye on,i dont know what i'll do if i cant have it any more0 -
Um, just a thought, but you have given everyone (including yourself) the once-over with the nitcomb recently, haven't you?Signature removed for peace of mind0

I find my scalp gets sore and itchy when I colour my hair, if I colour it at the time of the month. Guess everything about me is more sensitive!
Boots do their own brand of shampoo and conditioner for itchy scalps which is very good.:rotfl: l love this site!! :rotfl:0 -

I tried that along with the pre and post washing treatment and I still itch like hell. Others have recomended it too but I have never found anything to stop the itch. I always look like I am infested  (even though I am not)
If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0 -
Meant to say, on the smell issue, Oliatum smells quite nice. neutral to slightly minty. As medicated shampoos go it's better than most
I would def recommend it. I am also using Aveda's scalp benefits shampoo which seems good as well - if I can use it, it really must be gentle...and smells nice. It isn't cheap but it lasts for ages.
