Will NTL match the free BT Caller ID?

The question says it all really. My parents have NTL but they are charging £1.75 per month for the service. Has anyone managed to get them to waive the payment, or are there plans to have it free accross the board any time soon?

You could try but you would have to threaten to leave and the reason is that you can get free CLI instead of paying £1.75.
As far as I'm aware though no other teleco as yet does free caller display.0 -
hope not as i would have to buy a new fone so i could see it.GONE ENGLAND0

Ring up and tell them you want to cancel because BT do caller display for free, they should give it to you for free.0

I'm also waiting to see what Telewest do....
It seams that 3-4 years ago Telewest and NTL were leading competition in the phone market by being the first to offer "inclusive calling packages" now sadly - they seam to have been overtaken by BT - with free caller ID (with privacy), and all the (lower) priced inclusive calling packages that you can also get with a range of providers accross a BT line. I'm seriously thinking of dropping the phone with Telewest and moving to BT.
I find it very disapointing that both Telewest and NTL don't seam to be making their phone packages competitive .... lets hope the merger/takeover makes them re-evaluate their position and packages they offer.

Star1. If you are not already doing so you can register with https://www.call1899.com and by using their 0808 cable access number, get the benefit of cheap 01/02 and mobile calls.,even if you are with NTL.0

I NOW HAVE FREE Caller Display with Telewest !!
I just called them (after looking at my bill) .... and explained very nicely to the polite lady on the phone what my prediciment was ! .... she looked into my account and said as I had been a customer for such a long time she would add it for 12 months....
Wow .... I'll stick with Telewest for (at least the next 12 months) !!

Star1. Well done but are you still putting your calls over Telewest or are you using 1899. After all if you are not, you could probaly save a lot more then the monthly amount you have just saved.0

Yes - I'm using 1899 for weekdays - 01/02 calls and at all times for mobiles.
Also just starting to use my Broadband with my Linksys PAP2 for Voipbuster - so therefore should be able to avoid the 1899 3p connection charge for calls to landline numbers! And to top that - I use Sipgate for various incomming numbers for my business based at home.
(Thanks for the hint of 1899)0 -
