No Signal for Set Top Box - Will Sky Work??

I have recently had to replace my old Durabrand STB (v cheap and few years old so no prob) due to my tv losing most channels incl. BBC 1, 2, ITV, C4 on regular basis. Replaced it 4 a Bush STB from argos which worked for a v brief period. I now have NO channels and no signal whatsoever from either STB.
I have now arranged for Sky to install the new Sky + box next week to address this, but as I live in a block of flats, I am wondering if this will fix the problem as if it is the outside aerial will I still not be able to get a signal even with Sky? Sorry if this is totally obvious question, just don't know if satellite tv requires aerial connection too?
Can anyone help? Thanks
Becky

You need a satellite dish fitted to receive Sky, it doesn't use the TV aerial.
You can get Sky anywhere in the UK as long as you are allowed to have a dish fitted and there is nothing blocking the signal (like a huge block of flats in the direction the dish needs to be pointed).0 -
Ha ha!! Thanks TBT, that's a big relief, least I won't be paying for something that doesn't solve the problem.
BTW no huge block of flats in the way of dish, that would just be mine where it's being fitted!;)0 -

As long as the dish can be mounted on a more or less south facing wall, you should be OK.0
