  • I dont know how much help this is but IVA usually aim for teh 60% mark.

I assume that if they get funny you could alway threaten that you want to go down that route.

If my calculations are right it would mean your som would pay £2.30 for five years and the rest scrubbed off. Of course it would have to be prooven thats all he could pay if he took that route.

But when you talk to them mentioning it may persuade then to consider the offer.

I know its not strictly right as your effectively lying to them but if they wish to make things harder for you with hollow threats why cant you do the same.

Sorry for the late response as daughter has been in labour (twins!) all my time has been taken up with baby related stuff ;)

Weebit, the original debt was around the £4000 mark, now reduced to slightly over £1000.

The concensus seems to be to start with a low figure and take things from there, so thats what i will advise him to do.

Many thanks again for all the replies & advice, much appreciated. :)

    Hi

    Congratulations on the grandchildren.

The best advice on here is that he may not owe anything, if this debt is not properly documented.

Has he requested the proper CCA?

Did he get a default on this debt any time in the past?
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
  • RAS, Hi, i am not sure if he has requested the CCA. I will have to check with him.

I do know for certain that he has had no default on this at anytime.

    Thank you.

  • He may not have a default at the moment or had one in the past, but DCAs have been known when they resurrect these debts to slap a default on your credit file. So please keep an eye out for them ding that.
