Help -pc cd audio jittering!!!

Hi everyone,
I had a dvdrw fitted in my pc today by the local pc store.
The guy moved my Sony dvd/cdrw combo drive and fitted the new one
in the top bay.
The new drive is working fine, but the Sony drive audio is very
jittery when playing a dvd or cd. When playing a dvd the video is fine.
It was working fine last night before it was moved.
The dvdrw is the master drive and the sony one slave.
I phoned the installer and he suggested moving the jumpers
on both drives to cable select, but this hasn't helped.
The sony drive is working fine in other respects, I copied a dvd
from it on to the new drive for instance without any problems.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be causing this?
If not, I've to take the pc back to the installer, but I thought
I'd try and sort it myself rather than lugging it down there again.
The pc is a dell8400 P4 3ghz, 1gb ram if this helps.
Many thanks
Matthew

Have you tried just disconnecting the new unit and leaving your Sony as the Master device, just to make sure it is phyiscally the unit acting up?0
