Kaupthing EDGE

With Kaupthing EDGE how can money be transferred in and out, and what happens if balance drops below £100. Also whats the online bank panel thing like?? And what is it without tax - is it better than Natwests E-ISA ( 5.50% )?

Thanks

Normal way is vai BACS to your linked account (an account with another bank)
and what happens if balance drops below £100.

    You get no interest.

    Simple but works fine.

6.55% so yes. Or do you really mean after you have been taxed - 5.24%(basic) or 3.93%(higher rate)

It depends how much tax you pay You'll get 5.24% if you're a basic rate tax payer, ie 20% tax is taken off of the interest. Or 3.93% if you pay tax at 40%, ie you're a higher rate tax payer.

    As per https://www.kaupthingedge.com/Secure/files/uk/terms-conditions-rate220508.pdf
    12.1.1 Minimum Balance
If you have a Savings Account, but not a Fixed Term Deposit Account, the minimum balance that you can have in the Savings Account is £1. However, interest will only accrue if the balance in the Savings Account is £100 or more. For every calendar day that the balance in the Savings Account goes below £100, no interest will accrue. Please see the Interest Rates section of the Website for further details.

I'm still quite skeptical of the stability on this bank, I know its backed by the Treasury but that's gotta be a hard one to claim with no paper statements etc...
I'll look into setting it up when my ISAs full...
  • I expect it'd be much of a muchness. All hard to claim from.

I've no quarms with them. Nice website, great rates, ticking all my boxes!
