Can I keep my writ off car?
BUG
My car has been declared a write off, but I was told by an officer at the RTA that if the insurers tried to take the car not to let them as I still owned the rights to the car and could keep it. But since the car was towed from the scene I have no idea where it is and they will only make me an offer once they have the car documents - how can i gurantee that they will give my car back?

You need to ask them for a offer including you retaining the car.
If you want a full settlement then they will keep the car, you cant get both0 -
It will depend upon the category of the write off.
If C/D then you should be ok - you will have to pay a proce though to retain the salvage then get an MOT/Independent report to confirm its roadworthy again
Give them a call and ask0 -
you own the car until you accept the payout, then it belongs to the insurance company; you can buy back salvage, ie the car (common with stolen and recovered vehicles) and own it again, although dependent on the category of write off you wont be able to sell it on again as it'll be obvious it been written off.if it's more than 10 stone, and that hairy, it's probably not a dog...it may be a wookie.0
