Hello, this is my first post so thanks for listening/reading.:D
I've got two HSBC current accounts one of which I've just had a 10p "debit interest" charge on. I know that that account never, ever, ever goes overdrawn so I checked the statement for the period they said I was overdrawn and sure enough no little "D". I called HSBC and asked why they were charging me when nothing was showing on my statement. They said it was because I might have been overdrawn one morning and then in credit again later the same day!!!! What?! And that costs me 10p, I don't think so. After I asked the helpful customer service man to check my statement he then withdrew the charge saying they might as well because I've just wasted 10p on a phone call anyway
Anyone else had the same problem?

It could be that you had taken funds from a cheque that had not been cleared. Have a look at your statement to see if there are any cheques you have paid in and the balance then goes below the value of this cheque within the first three days. Technically if you draw on a cheque before it is cleared it is kind of going overdrawn. This may have been the case.0
