Oops. :o Missed that you were in Scotland.

Will have to adjust the letter accordingly.;)

LOL, fermi, I don't think you need to apologise for anything - especially given the amount of help you give people on here. :A

I'm so conscious of not knowing anything about the system in England and Wales that every time Scotland is mentioned, I feel a bit like donkey in shrek ... ("Oh, I know!!! I know ... Pick me!! Pick me!! Me!! Me!!)

    :o
  • Oh my goodness, thank you so much. As always there is amazing advise being given out again.

I will get printing tomorrow and mail it out - I would love to be a fly on the wall watching them opening it :rotfl:

Thank you loads and loads xx
  • Aarrgghh well they are at it again. They have ignored both recorded delivery letters, which I know got there, and have now sent me this...

You have been written to on numerous occasions however the above debt remains outstanding. To avoid further action, a monthly repayment plan must be in place within the next 7 days.

Therefore, as a gesture of goodwill, our client will accept the account to be paid by monthly instalments providing the Standing Order Mandate is completed, signed and returned to Mackenzie Hall within the next 7 days.

On receipt of the mandate being returned, Mackenzie Hall will not take any further action against you providing you do not default on payments.

Now - do I just ignore this or mail them the last 2 letters telling them that I will not respond to further contact? Ack - I'm confused now. I don't knwo who to complain to or if I should complain to anyone at all.

Your all amazing at this - I feel rubbish having to ask again.
    xx

Ahhh Mackenzie Hall :) one of our fave debt collectors... they are right sods... Personally would send them a polite letter telling them they were sent recorded letters on xyz dates and in continuing to harass you they have been very very naughty and if they do so again you will report them. If you want you CAN report them to the OFT or ombudsman now... being as I LOVE them so much I'd be tempted to report them and send them a copy of the letter to the ombudsman ;)

    Agree with Tine here.

Report MH, they are loathed on here, for many good reasons.

A list of good contacts to whom you can complain formally if they make a nuisance of themselves.

Here are pipk62's list of websites for the organisations .

These addresses are the ones that I have used to find the information that I required, You may want to research pages other than the ones I have linked to, try clicking on the home page if any of these aren't what you wanted.

Office of Fair Trading, Contact page: http://www.oft.gov.uk/contactus

The Information Commissioners Office, Complaints page: http://www.ico.gov.uk/complaints.aspx
(note: I chose to complete and download the .pdf form on Data Protection, which I am also sending to the other offices, with an accompanying letter)

Trading Standards, Central office homepage: http://www.tradingstandards.gov.uk/
-Please note, you can search by inserting the postcode in the top right hand corner, remember to use the postcode of the DCA rather than your own-

Consumer Credit Association, enquiries page: http://www.ccauk.org/consenquiries.htm

the Financial Ombudsman Service, Contacts page: http://www.financial-ombudsman.org/contact/index.html
