Thanks for the tip hun, I always go to the pharmacy for glitches too as they don't really seem to know what the hell is going on (in a good way). I like the other boots as its roomier and its cooler (Above Bar is always sooo hot) but there isn't as many places to pay and they do generally seem a bit more clued up. They both have their good and bad points but tend to be more in above bar as I dont drive and its so near the bus stop for me, only brave the other one when I convince the better half its worth a trip! I never realised there were so many Southampton boosters out there, I will keep my eyes peeled from now on! :T

    So many Southampton Peeps!!!!!

I find Above Bar is better for glitches (TS / R&M etc) and the one in the retail park is better reduced bits. (The retail park one also has the bonus of a Halfords next door for other halves!!!)

Today in Above Bar i got a couple of reduced R&M make up bags with the pinkies and tried the TS but no intensive conditioners or serum so just got a Shampoo/Conditioner for £2.51. Also got a few TD bits (face cream @ £5.50 and eye cream @ £5.99) and used the 200 points vouchers.

In the Retail Park i got some reduced socks (88p) and used 100pnt voucher; and loads of reduced Mediterranean collection bits and a reduced Sanctuary lip gloss. Also got a NO7 nail buffer thingy in a cute pouch.

Took my boyfriend today with was a mistake as he whinged the whole time and is now taking the mick out of me talking to my "Bootsing friends". Grrr. I need to Boots with someone who doesn't respond to everything i say with "Bored now"
I'm so boring, my clothes wanna keep someone else warm, someone cooler

    Oooh also....

I was wittering on the other night about wanting a make-up base/primer that wasn't too expensive. Completely forgot about it in town today but still have vouchers left for next time.

Anyways was reading a thread on the Health and Beauty thread and cam across this.... (http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=13604699&postcount=538)

    Worth trying maybes...
Am I the only one who's been testing Lanacane Anti Chafing Gel :o as an alternative to Smashbox Photo Finish Primer?

    LANACG;Warehouse;Warehouse.jpg

I've been using it for about 6 weeks, and I'm pretty impressed so far.

    Lanacane's ingredients are:

Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Zea Mays (Corn) Starch.

    compared to Smashbox which contains:

Cyclomethicone, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Ethylhexyl Salicylate, Isopropylparaben, Isobutylparaben, Butylparaben, Retinyl Palmitate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Safflower Seed Oil, Propylene Glycol, Water, Grape Seed Extract, Kolanut Seed Extract, Camellia Oleifera Leaf Extract

They basically both contain a whole bunch of silicones to 'fill' and smooth over pores, fine lines etc and leave a smoother base for foundation. That's simplifying it a bit, the Smashbox primer contains lots of other bits and bobs too... but the main active ingredient(s) are the silicones.

I checked out Lanacane's ingredients here:

    http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com/index.php

And they all seem to be regularly used in various skincare/cosmetics anyway - so in that respect I feel comfortable putting it on my face :rotfl:

The only difference I've noticed is that my skin feels more moisturised by using Smashbox, something that I can remedy by being more vigilant about moisturising before I put on the anti-chafing gel. I would also say that the anti-chafing gel leaves me with more of a matte finish (which may be the whole moisturisation issue).

At £5.99 for a 30g tube of Lanacane (compared to £23 for 30ml of Smashbox) there's a huge saving to be had.

You can also get a free sample from their website. Although, mine took ages to arrive, by which time I'd gotten impatient and bought a full tube anyway :D

Sorry for the essay, but I know Smashbox Primer is a popular product and couldn't resist sharing this potential bargain alternative.

Don't laugh at me for putting anti-chafing gel on my face... I'm doing it in the name of moneysaving! (and beauty!) :o

Sounds like there were some fab bargains in the retail park, well done!! Where is the clearance section in the retail park store? Is it still opposite the doors when you walk in as I went yesterday and didn't see anything (although that was probably cause I ran straight to the time delay section)? x
  • YAYYYYY! I am chuffed today because I got another No 7 gwp for my sis! I got 4 lots of the glossy locks at £5.75 each and BOGOF. Used pinky, so total to pay was £6 odd. Got another set of vouchers too so went round again. This time I got the lipicious in jellybean, and the choc buttons glitch for kids. Used mag voucher and pinky, total was £5. So another lot of vouchers!:T
Dont need anything else really so just want to use the pinkys up on free things. Is there any No 7 make up reduced atm? I'm sure someone said they got a lip and eye tint for half price and bogof? Love all the autumn collection make up but am skint now and no ss tills near me.
