Hi, we are looking to find a flat to rent and are looking at 2 bed flats in Southgate. What is the area like? Anyone who lives there I would be grateful to know which parts are nicer and whether it is generally a good area for a little famil and what the amenities/shopping is like. Thanks.

You didn't even say the town.
Is that Southgate, Peterborough, Cambs?0 -

Or any one of the following?!
According to Google maps there’s a Southgate in Aberystwyth, Swansea, Telford, Hornsea, Sleaford, Elland, Manchester, Scarborough, Sheffield and York... And I believe there's one in Bath as well!

Southgate in north London is a typically middle-class north london suburb.Krusty & Phil Madoff, 1990 - 2007:

Southgate is a very nice part of London. It is middle class as previous poster said and has a good High Street with some very nice shops and restaurants. They've got the tube and it's also in the catchment area for some of the best schools in the country. It's nice and green there and very easy to get into central London.
Many of the houses there are very posh looking
All in all it's a very nice spot.0 -
Sorry all, I meant Southgate in North London. Thank you.0

We lived there about 12 years ago...and loved it!
Would go back anytime if I had to move back to London.
We were within walking distance of the tube and shops which does make a difference, we were also quite near a couple of nice pubs too. GREAT place to live, but looking back, the rents were a bit on the high side.0
