USB Problems on Amilo M1425 laptop

Options
Hi all,

I have got a problem with my wifes sisters laptop that I cannot resolve!

Its a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo M1425 laptop that wont recognise a 3 mobile broadband adaptor when its plugged into any of the 3 usb ports on the side of the laptop.

Laptop Spec
OS - XP Pro with SP2
1GB memory
1.8GHz Intel Pentium M

So far I have -

Tried all the ports on the laptop - did not work
Tried a PCMIA USB2 card - very occasionally works
Tried the 3 adaptor on others laptops and pc's - works no problem
Updated bios and drivers on laptop - did not work
Removed and reinstalled USB drivers - did not work
Tired powering the 3 adaptor on a powered external usb2 hub - did not work
Been online and updated Win XP Pro - only to find out it is not a genuine copy!!
Tried a usb memory stick - does not work - it powers the LED but then says USB device not recognised

So my next thought is to buy a new OS and start again - unless there are any areas that I could try.

Any help you could give me would be gratefully received!

Regards

Paul.
