Hi,
i'm planning to buy a flat in wimbledon area (merton council) and initial HIP from agents revealed that area 's water has incidents of CHOLIFORM bacteria infection. Upon checking Thames Water webstie for that post code , it does say 2 such incidents found in that area....
i logged a call with thames water quality check department and should hear back from them by tuesday....
i'm just wonderign is there any way that we can get independent survey of water quality of my new flat please ? any government approved agencies ?
checked Drinking Water Inspectorate and Ofwat's website with no luck!
any pointers will be highly appreciated :T
Thanks in advance

I would suggest you read the report again carefully.
Where were the samples taken? In my area Southern Water say in their reports that samples are taken at properties in an area. For e-coli they comment that the bacteria often comes off taps! If Thames Water is the same, the report only means that at 2 properties coliforms were found, not necessarily that the water supply for the whole area was contaminated on 2 occasions.RICHARD WEBSTER
As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.0 -
Found this interesting.
www.dwi.gov.uk/pubs/annrep06/Drinking%20water%202006%20-%20Drinking%20water%20in%20England%20and%20Wales.pdf -The only thing to do with good advice is to pass it on. It is never of any use to oneself. (Oscar Wilde);)0 -
It's not a tank fed cold water is it? You want mains fed for preference.
I should imagine if there's anything in the water then they will sort it out -and you can ask them to take samples when you move in if you're worried.
If it was serious everyone would be ill.0 -
you guys are just amazing.....thanks a ton for your information....0
