laptop wont switch on...

my daughters laptop (hp pavillion) has been playing up over the past couple of days so she asked me to check it over for her...ive been scanning it for the last couple of hours to check it but it suddenly went into hibernation and now wont switch back on....when i press the on button there is blue lightning flash at the front of the machine....i tried it using plug and without plug but it just wont switch on....have i buggard it? so worried...

Take the power lead out and remove the main battery, leave it out a few mins and then put it back in and try again. Have you tried holding the power button in?

How hot is the laptop?
My old laptop would sometime do that if i ran a heavy program. Would over heat, and wont switch on until it's cooled down.
Were the vents blocked at all?

just took the battery out and tried it with just the plug and it isnt doing anything at all....but put the battery back in and still wont start up...have tried leaving it - no joy....have tried holding the power button in and no joy...

it isnt very hot but will give it time to cool down and see...

typical that the extra insurance has just run out 2 weeks ago and i didnt re-insure.....cant afford to buy another either...looks like shell be nicking mine now...

just realised too that about a year after she bought this laptop this happened and it had to be sent to be repaired - it was found something inside had gone.....if that is the same thing now would i have any comeback because the laptop is only 3 years old? and we have had nothing but trouble with it since we bought it?

WOOOOOOOOO JUST CHECKED AND THE LAPTOP IS ACTUALLY STILL INSURED WOOOO.....
