MS Word Documents Lost or Corrupted Data?
I closed my PC the wrong way and switched it of from the Power Switch
I noticed the next day one of the Microsoft Wordpad files I had open at the time had lost ALL data there where strange Chinese looking squares written across one line of it the rest was blank.
I scanned my pc as always with Antivirus Kaspersky & Antispyware too.
Looking for a solution I found a website called http://www.jufsoft.com/
software called "DocRepair" download.com costs $79:00 Usdollars for it.
The software gets very bad reviews and there is no moneyback gaurantee.
This Microsoft Document Wordpad was quite packed with data is their a physical limit in what they will store?
Is there any Freeware I could try or decent low cost software to resolve this problem.
Thanks
Samantha

Hi Samantha,
Did you save the document at all before you switched off the computer?
Unfortunately if the data hasnt been back up it is lost. Some Word Processing packages perform an auto backup every few minutes ( if you set them up for this ), so that is there is a power failure, you can recover your work from the last point it saved it.
Do you have a back-up of a previous version?0 -

but MS Office have a recovery tool, which can recover documents, if say you had a power cut, its happenned to me before.
Yup, but if the program hasn't backed it up, it's lost. Not sure if WordPad has that feature, but i wouldnt think so.
Samantha, Is it MS word though? If so, which version?0 -

the way she has shut down her computer, should have let MS recovery console recover her word documents, like i said i have shut down my computer liek this before, by holiding the button and straight by the switch, and it recovered both times.
im hoping that you have word 2003 or 2007 if not then all i can say is wow0 -

If it's word 97 or 2000 you can go into the temporary files folder (set under Tools Options) and then find the temporary saved file and open it - most of it should be there.
However if it's wordPAD then it's different - I don't think there is any sort of autosave.
Seriously wonder whether this is just :spam:working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0
