Kwik Fit Insurance

Maybe someone can offer some advice?
I keep getting calls from an 0800 number and last night I decided to answer it. It was Kwik Fit (my car insurer) who were calling to ask if for an extra £4.50 a month would I like to protect my £400 excess? I informed them that my car was hit a few months back in my first year with them but deicded not to claim. So I think this is why I got the call, apparently if I claim I will get the money back. While the lady was on the phone I asked her what was going to happen with my NCB that I had earned from them as I never received a letter confirming I had gained a NCB with them and would I recive now or at the end of my second year with them.
So this brings me to my question, is it worth paying extra per month? Isn't it a standard procedure that I would get my excess back if someone hit me? As I dont intend to claim *touch wood*. I asked her to put it in writing as I dont accept offers over the phone.
I've noticed Kwik Fit are a bid dodgy- firstly I got calls in my first month about my legal cover, and then they passed my details on to a personal injury company becuase I informed them that my car had been hit.
Anyone else with Kwik Fit and having the same issues? Shall I fork out textra, bringing my monthly car isnurance to £59? Hmmm

How much extra would your premium be if you simply reduced your excess to nil? Maybe worth looking into before making any decision.0

But this new policy I have had for a few months, so it might be too late to change? Also I really dont intend on claiming, I could have for the hit and run but didnt want to lose my NCB.0

If you don't intend claiming, then there was no point getting comprehensive insurance. See how much they will refund you if you switch to TPFT. There is no point considering this excess insurance they are offering you if you won't ever make a claim yourself. (There is no excess to pay if you are claimed against by a third party, should you cause damage to anyone else).0

But with TPFT do I get a NCB? As I just want to build up my NCB.0

OMG, I thought I couldnt build up NCB on TPFT. This whole time I've been buying fully comp.0
