My partners and mine contract is up very soon, we've been searching for new places without luck, his parents can't help, mine won't, we can't go through agencies as both mine and his credit rating is terrible (though being worked on now!) and we've just had to pay out for something so money is a little on the low.
To add we've both just recently lost our jobs and own two cats which we could never part with.
What would you do?

Stay where you are.
If this is not possible you will need to remain where you are until evicted by a court and apply for emergency council housing.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Are you likely to be asked to leave at the end of the tenancy agreement?
As a landlord with good - reasonable tenants I'd rather keep them then have to find news ones so wouldn't ask them to leave. I'd ask them to sign a new agreement.
Contact your LL and ask him about a new contract ... he can only say no can't he!
