Wouldn't it be quicker to stay on the National Express Metro line train from Romford to Liverpool Street and get on the Central Line to Holborn there? Rather than changing at Stratford?

Gives you the price from Romford excluding Tube.
Not sure why it's not listed including Tube, phone National Express on 0845 600 7245.
You can actually walk from Liverpool Street to Holborn in about 20 minutes but whether you want to is another matter.0 -
For a start, are you going to Stratford (as in the title of your post) or Holborn (as in the body of your post)? I'll assume Holborn...
A Zone 1-6 travelcard costs £171.30 per month (if you do only need to get to Stratford, a Zone 3-6 travelcard costs £93 per month).
You could buy a season ticket from Romford to Liverpool Street for £130.60 per month, but to get from Liverpool Street to Holborn you would either need to buy a Zone 1-2 travelcard for £93 per month, or use Oyster PAYG for £1.50 each way (so about £66 per month). So the Zone 1-6 travelcard is a cheaper option.

But by getting on at Stratford the tube will be quieter. At LS the underground is packed and you can have difficulty getting on the train.
I'm sure by visitng his local station they'd be able to give the OP a price. I used to buy a season ticket which covered overground train and underground.0
