What Do You Think of These Tic Tac Holders Please?

It's my daughter's 12th birthday party on Sunday and she's been away on holiday this week with her friend and her family. She doesn't come back until tomorrow.

She's holding it in a dance studio, (we had it there last year too) and the dance teacher does some teaching with them too - like street dance, hip bop etc, and the kids love it.

However, last year she had a combined birthday party/leaving junior school party and I made them all special personalised bookmarks and chocolate bars and got the teacher to get everyone who was leaving the school to write down their favourite moments - and presented each child one of these as they were leaving the party.

This year, I'm not at all organised - only two days away!!

I need some ideas for what (if anything) I can give them as they're leaving? Are 12 year olds too old for party bags or things like that?

What about food? I was going to just have some trays of open sandwiches, but what fillings? A cake of course - but what else? Bowls of crisps? Bowls of sweets?

Arrrgh, as always I've left it too late! lol

how about making up a CD of the music the dance teacher is going to use, so they can pratice the moves when they get home?
What about personalised cup cake to take home? saves on cake too.
You could wrap them in clear celophane and maybe use a funky hair tie for them to keep rather than using a ribbon.

I second shegha's ideas, you could do those quite quickly. Time is pressed so just buy the fairy cakes and get some packs of pre-made icing to do names on the cakes.

A CD of the music as well could be done quick on the computer and you could print a quick piccie up of your daughter, fold paper in half and stick down sides for an instant cd sleeve.

Or maybe- does your local poundshop have cheerleader pom poms in, you could give them out to take home or wrap them as a pressie to take away. Or anything that is dance related you might find in the pound shop.

are 12 year olds into high school musical, seen pens in home bargains for 50p!

    With food just loads of picky things - I find the older ones don't pick the sandwiches. So then there's less for you to do. Ready to eat mini sausages, crisps, chop up hot dogs, flumps, bowls of sweets, cupcakes, chopped cheese, pickled onions, mini jaffa cakes, etc;

Oooh some great ideas! I like the idea of the cup cakes - mind you I still don't know how many or who will be coming, so wouldn't be able to personalise them? She gave out 57 invites and only about 12 have replied!

As for the CD,that's a good idea but the dance teacher has all the music needed etc on his huge music system at the studios - so wouldn't be able to prepare the CD copies before Sunday?

Good ideas so far though! Thanks a lot!

take home - get the cellophane and fill with cheap girlie bits...hair clips/slides/key rings - bob off to town now and hit poundland etc and get your faughter to make the parcels... - also a sweetie lolly could go in the parcels - all will save til next year as your unsure of numbers - 57 - 12 replies - I'd do 25...

    hope that helps

  • How about looking in Superdrug or Savers chemist for cheap hair bobbles, lip balms etc. You could even do a lucky dip instead of giving individual gifts- so that each child gets to pick something then if numbers are on the low side people could have another dip.

    Thanks everyone

I ended up going into a shop that had boxes of lollipops, and packets of sweets for £1 each. Also got 2 x packets of little square sponge cakes, £1 for 48. Packets of choccie biscuits, and tomorrow will go stock up with crisps and juice - as for the something to give them as they're leaving, I'm working on that and will post again tomorrow - lol
