What prepaid credit card?

Hey guys, I am 16 and have been trying to get a debit card for a while now but I am having trouble, So I want to get a prepaid card instead.

What one should I get? All the "good" ones i can find are either for over 18s or cost way too much. I only want to use it to buy games from PSN, and to buy stuff online.

Are you sure you really can't get a debit card? Have you tried Lloyds? Ask for a basic cash account and that comes with a Visa Debit.

I wouldn't bother with prepaid cards coz u shouldn't be paying to use your own money.
  • Ive tried getting a debit card from Natwest and a few others but they say they need my mums marriage certificate since I have a different surname, but she says she cant find it.

I do have a Cash Card with Abbey that I got when I was 13, could I get that upgraded? If so, what would I need?

    Hi,

The extreme cred Prepaid Card is the cheapest one by far: http://www.credit-card-comparison-online.co.uk/extreme-cred/default.asp

You also only need to be 13 or over to get one.

It's got no monthly fee and purchase transactions in the UK have no fee either.

The only thing is you have to pay a fee when you top it up. Do it at the Post Office and it's just 70p flat fee. Any other way (debit / credit / pay point) is 3%.

There is a whole list of Prepaid cards in the UK here: http://www.credit-card-comparison-online.co.uk/prepaid/default.asp

    Get an UreLife card.

    https://www.urelife.com/

The cards costs £12.95 + the amount you load onto it. At the moment there are no other fees for day-to-day use but there's a 50p ATM charge though. The card will last 2 years or until you're 18 if earlier when you'll need to get a new one.
