Quick question - Barclays Cheque

I received a cheque from someone and it's a Barclays cheque. My main account is Lloyds, however I do have a Barclays account, so if I pay this cheque into my Barclays account, will it clear the same day?.
Thanks.
Thanks.

No-not unless it is a house cheque and it is drawn on the same branch as you are with (eg sort code 201504 is the sort code on the cheque and your account was opened at the same branch, making the sort code on your card 201504 also) this type of cheque will clear at midnight. However if it is drawn on a different branch to your own then it makes no odds which bank you pay it into as it still takes the same clearing times.
The reason a cheque only clears when it is a 'house' cheque is because it doesn't have to be sent to ''Clearing House'' to be processed and checked-therefore it is credited and cleared within 24hrs.
Hope this helps.Loan-£3600 only 24 months of payments to go!!!
