Maybe write-off, can i keep my car

Own a rare show example Ford Mondeo, hard too replace. Had RTA which was other parties fault. Minor damage is only to headlight, bonnet and front bumper. Had bodyshop quote which is more than car is worth and fear insurer will write off my car. Even though. I have checked on Glass's and Parkers to value my car (or as close as). What will happen if it is a write off, can i buy my car back or keep my car.

example: if its worth £2000, will i get this from my insurer? And if i want to keep my car to repair it myself, can this be done? If i can buy it, how is this calculated?

Car still drivable, only cosmetic damage. I have £250 excess on insurance. Vehicle is show car with many additional parts all listed with insurer (specialist insurer).

my main concern is keeping my car and i am sure it'll be a cat c or cat x write-off.

If it's category C or D, it can be repaired and put back on the road. In that event, the insurers should agree a cash in lieu of repair settlement. As an example of what you can expect, it should amount to the pre-accident value of the car less the salvage value. These are largely a matter of opinion so expect a tricky negotiation.
