Hi,
I passed my driving test last Saturday and been looking for Car Insurance for a range of diffrent cars and all the quotes im getting are around £2100-£2700+.
the cheapest i can get is with Endsleigh for a Vauxhall Corsa and thats £2100. Iv tried diffrent comparison sites like MoneySuperMarket and GoCompare but the prices are more or less the same. Can someone help me try and get my insurance down please. (details below)
Also does anyone know any insurance companies where i can put my dad as the main driver and me as an addtional and yet i still get my own no claims discount?
Third Party Fire & Theft
Voluntary Excess £250
No Claims Discount: 0
Yrs Held License: 0
Numbr Plate: MF53SRV (Vauxhall Corsa)
Driving Convictions: 0
Estimated annual mileage: 5000

Thank you very much if you guys could help, also i think MArtin Lewis should do a show about Car Insurance and the best thing to do for new drivers etc..

Try Quinn Direct, daughter passed her test last year, was 17 and got a 1998 corsa, her insurance was £1300 for first year in ehr own name. She now has a 2002 Fiesta and insurance did not change.
Quinn are good for young drivers. Getting a policy in your dads name and you as a additional drive may seen the cheapest way to do it but you are better starting on your own NCD.TOTAL 44 weeks lose. 6st 9.5lb :T0 -
1 of the cheapest cars for insurance is a 205xs ok not a brilliant car but if you want cheap insurance...0

I got a quote for a Corsa 2003 and that was £2800 with Quinn. Ill see what it is for a 1999 Corsa.0 -
wow this is weird. I just done a quote for a yr 2000 Corsa and Quinn have quoted over £3100 thats more than a 2003 car. that carnt be right can it?0

and its £2844.45 for a 1998 Corsa. So getting a 2003 Corsa is cheaper than a 1998 Corsa. These quotes are mad but still very expensive :-(0

do not insure the car in your parent's names.
it's illegal and insurers aren't stupid.

Best for me was: https://www.ecarinsurance.co.uk (19 year old, Student, '97 1.4 Corsa).
Hint: If they are any good, go through topcashback/quidco, etc, and get an extra £40 off!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
I know how you feel when i passed 3 years ago some wanted £4500 but luckily got it for £1300 with Churchill.
I am now currently with Endsleigh who has been the cheapest around for me for the last two years.
Also i am not sure which ones they are but i do know there are motor insurance comapanys out there that allow you (the additional driver) to also earn no claims discount.
My brothers quote was coming in at over £1200 and he insured himself as an additional driver on my dads car and it dropped to just under £300, after 1 year he got his own car even thou he did not have any No Claims and his insurance is now only costing him i think £300 odd, it is suprising that even thou you have no claims but driving for one year as an additional driver can dramatically reduce the cost after 1 year, my dads car is also an M reg Corsa aswell, but obviously everyone is different and require certain requirements and depends on location etc so it can be very different.
As my car is not work more than £1000 i also choose third part fire and theft and not full comp as that increases it a hell of alot aswell.0
