Slow internet & downloading query

Hello there

I have an intermittant problem. Several times over the last 2 days my laptop has been incredibly slow at loading pages online.

It started when AVG detected a false Trojan in Samsung PC suite - it may not all be connected but it happened at the same time.

I uninstalled AVG and Samsung PC suite - then decided I wanted AVG back - as the comp just 'wasn't right' I tried downloading it, but my dl speed was 104mb/sec and it was going to take 14hrs!!!!!

I did Housecall check - clear, Spybot S&D - nothing

I had a quick look here and checked the speedtest site:
results were dl - 1427 ul - 81 and a 213 ping
hubby however was dl - 3545 ul - 103 and 199 ping (on similar laptop - same wireless)

I'm afraid none of the information you have given here actually tells us anything at all about what might be wrong with your PC.

How often does it go slow and for how long each time? Are you sure you're the only one using your wireless network at the time you did your speedtest? Perhaps you have a neighbour who's decided to start using your internet connection through your wireless network if it isn't protected.

It is protected. I was the only one using it at the time.

There are 2 laptops, pc, xbox360 & ps3 using the one connection, but only my laptop was using the connection at the time of the test - everything else was switched off.

I changed to OH's laptop when mine wasn't working right (7pm onwards on the 20th - it was fine the next day) and his was fine (giving the results posted above)
