1st Credit Card

Hi

I am student. I have two years left on my course. I have never been overdrawn on my current student account and I have some money in a high interest account. I have an inactivated Flybe CC which I doubt I will activate until the flight scam is clarified.

I am lucky enough to have help from mummy and daddy.

Currently I am using my debit card for all purchases (online/offline) and cash withdrawls.

My average spend per month is about £300 (approx £3600k pa) going through my card physically (excl DD).

My question is would a cashback credit card offer me much, other than security online? In the past I have been interested in obtaining a John Lewis partnership cc as I shop sometimes in Waitrose, however this habit may cease as there is a new Tescos opening nearby.

PS If I pay off my credit card in full at the end of the month APR doesn't apply, right?

PPS Should I make some smash and grabs on freebies?
Buy for value not cost.

There isn't a "scam". The details are given in black and white on their website. The CSA was misinformed.

As well as the cashback, you get to hold onto your savings a bit longer so make a little interest along the way. Also, the security doesn't just apply online. You enjoy section 75 protection with high street stores as well.

More accurately, you won't pay any interest, so long as they are purely purchases and not cash advances etc.
