Hi,
I had just started to paint my kitchen ceiling and a large area of it has fallen down!!
To be honest i new that bit was a bit delicate, as it looked as though there had been a leak there before i moved in (have been in about 18mth) but one tickle of the paint brush and CRASH it fell!
does anyone know if i have to replace the whole ceiling or can i get it patched? it's just that the room is quite large and i dont think i can afford to get the whole thing done. Any ideas on the best thing to do would be most appreciated.

Hello,
I had a similar problem when I moved into my house, I was fitting a new bathroom suite and we had a bit of leak so I said to my partner just mop that water up as she was doing this she put her hand straight through our ceiling!
However dont panic!
You have a couple of options really-
1. Rip the whole ceiling down (will be messy) get someone or yourself to put plasterboard up, Plasterboard is very cheap! Then either pay a plasterer to plaster it or as a cheaper option you could paper your ceiling with lineing paper.
2. Cheaper option again depending on size of holes use decorators chaulk hides all kinds of holes, Fill it and smooth it over with a scraper if necessary sand it smooth and flat!
My personal option would be to save and get the plasterboard up and get it plastered well worth the money. I have had the majority of my rooms re-plastered and they look brillant!
Hope this helps£10 a day - Sept 08 £245/£3000
