    Hi there.... right I'm seeing:-
    • plain flour -make tortillas (really easy ;) ) and fill with southern chicken, salad etc,
    • shepherds pie
    • savoury meat roll -using about 4oz mince and a couple of sausages
    • toad in the hole
    • sausage casserole
    • meatballs -either on pasta, or in wraps, pittas
    • hm pizza
    • "chinese" using noodles with veggies and hoisin sauce and the 2 chinese steaks cut into strips
    • roast lamb dinner -using leftover lamb to then make a pie with the pack of pastry n veggies
    • use the pizza, garlic bread, chips, mini corn and salad to make a "takeaway" meal -also great for getting rid of bits n bobs
theres a few to be getting on with..;) if you are stuck for any recipe let me know and i will help where i can

Hi, just wanted to say when I need to use up my fridge/freezer/storecupboard stuff, I start by picking out the main part of the meal (in my house usually the meat) and then whatever I need to accompany it (veg, potatoes, pasta), and plan my meals like that until it's all been used up. HTH xx

    For starters/main course, how about:

    --- carrot/swede/onion soup

    For afters, you could make/have:

    --- some pancakes with honey/syrup/tinned mandarines (here's a recipe - http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/database/basilpancakswithsuga_66226.shtml )

--- oatcakes, warmed, served with syrup

--- a trifle of sorts, using the mandarines (drained) topped off with angel delight

--- cookies using the semolina (found this recipe, which you could tailor: http://www.aspoonfulofsugar.net/blog/2008/01/lemony_semolina_cookies_1.html)

    Hi there

    Here you go:-

I will give you the general idea..as there is no such thing as a recipe :rotfl: and you can alter to suit what your family like...

    SAVOURY MEAT ROLL
    1. MASHED POTATO -great for using leftover
    2. ONIONS, SLICED AND MICROWAVED
    3. 4OZ RAW MINCE -can use left over joint (blitzed in processor)
    4. 1 RAW SAUSAGE -SKINNED
Basically mix all the above plus seasoning-its best to use your hands so that everything is distributed right through..
leave to go cold -so the pastry will be easier to handle (the amount of pastry you need will depend on how much filling you make)
roll out short crust pastry into a long rectangle (flaky/puff just doesn't seem right with this)
spread filling over and roll like a swiss roll -place on baking sheet and whack in oven (about 190)until golden and hot right through -best served with HM mushy peas and gravy

It really is a tasty meal -using little meat..the pastry on the inside absorbs loads of flavour too :D
As i say you can alter it to suit..
mashed potato and swede, carrots etc.. and if you wanted you can add more meat -but to be honest it doesn't need it
and of course you could make it into a pie/pasties if the roll is a bit much to handle:rotfl:
hope that helps someone..we love it and its a good old fashioned meal that my mum learnt as a child during the war :T

    CHEWY SOFT FLOUR TORTILLA
2 CUPS PLAIN FLOUR about 300g
    1 ½ TSP BAKING POWDER
    1TSP SALT
    2TSP VEG OIL
    ¾ CUP WARM MILK -180ml

Sift flour and baking powder into a bowl
    Whisk milk, oil and salt
Pour into flour -stirring to mix
Once mixed -turned out onto a lightly floured worktop and knead for 2 mins
Cover and leave for 15 mins -it won’t rise but needs to relax
Cut into 8 balls (approx 50g each)
Cover and leave to relax for 10 mins
Roll each one out into a round -approx 8”
Heat a heavy frying pan (preferably cast iron)
Drop in one tortilla and turn after about 2 mins -the surface should bubble -press down with a teatowel (watch you don't steam your fingers )
Place inside a dry tea towel to keep warm whilst you cook the rest
You can freeze the balls of dough -but they will be a little stickier once defrosted -but as a bonus they roll out bigger too

    Hi there

Yes you can freeze them, they will be fine for packed lunches as you will leave them cold, but you have to be careful if warming them back up -so they don't dry out...

  • I'd say get a big sack of potatoes with the money you have as you can then fill out loads of meals with HM chips, wedges, mash etc. I've put some more ideas below.

4 organic beef burgers, 1 veg burger, Vegetables , Potatoes, Gravy

Toad in the hole using 4 thick pork sausages with veg, spuds and gravy with 1 veg burger for the V

Use the 14 mini sausages, a handfull of onions, a tin of toms and a tin of mixed beans to make a sausage and bean hotpot. You could do the sauce seperately and serve with one veg kebab for the V

3/4 pack of stir fry veg and the Steak chopped into slices to make a stir fry with your noodles. Cook the veg seperately to the meat for the V

1 x carrot and onion burgers, 2 Thick Pork Sausages, 2 hot and spicy beef burgers with hm chips or wedges and some baked beans

5 veg kebabs with savory rice

    Tomato soup with bread rolls

Pasta, with tuna, onions, tin tomoatoes

Veg curry usign your curry sauce with rice or even pasta

Jacket spuds with tinned spag / tuna

Battered fish and HM chips with 1 x carrot and onion burger for V

Chinese marinated chicken drumsticks with chilli, garlic and ginger noodles. Broccoli mornay for the V

Serve bread or garlic bread with everything.
