when i do an online scan with panda security it tells me that this is a suspicious file.
C:\hp\bin\KillIt.exe
in the properties it does say it has been on the pc a long time and i do have hewlett packard software installed for my printer. so is it safe? if it is why is panda saying it is suspicious?
i had to download active x to use panda. i believe it is a risk to have it on a pc so how do i remove active x now i'm finished using panda? do i really need to remove it anyway?
i am just paranoid there is something bad on my pc because when i updated norton 360 to version 2.0 on sunday weird things happened. the net was not working and then did work. norton 360 has crashed a couple of times and therefore turned off. that is obviously bad if i am connected to the net when it happens. during the updating i had forgotten to turn windows firewall on for part of the process. so i am worried something got through. what makes me more concerned is when i logged onto hotmail afterwards a number of emails had been sent from my address that i didnt send and to people i dont know. the email was claiming to be a chinese electrical company called trade faithfully.
so the big question is could this version of norton 360 be a fake? i did install it on the basis of a pop up message from the bar across the bottom. or if norton 360 is fine then how can i find a virus, malware etc that may have gotten past norton 360? if one has of course.

Try one of the free online scanners in the sticky link on this forum regards to viruses. Such as Kaspersky.
Regards to Killit, I think its just a part of the HP programs. If you put the suspected extension in google, you'll get lots more info about it.;)0 -
thanks.
panda was supposed to be able it fix it but it just has a option called send to laboritory. i have done that. now just in the last few minutes i have had an hp digital imaging update request that flashes up sometimes fail. could have have done something bad to my installed hp software. if so how can i fix that?0 -

Unfortunately Donnie I have never used Panda. However has it not got like a quarantine section where suspected files are put in whilst the user decides what to do with it?
If so, you should be able to deselect the suspected killit.exe and should fix the problem.0 -

Surely you only sent a copy of this killit.exe file for analysis? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

It sounds like Panda is being rather over cautious see here:doh: Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
