Yorkshire Bank is launching a new fee-paying current account on 1st September.
For £10/month the new account offers the following benefits:
1. Worldwide travel insurance for the account holder and partner and up to 4 children. Maximum age of 75. Maximum duration of any one holiday is 31 days. Four countries are excluded, including Cuba, Liberia and Afghanistan.
2. Identity fraud protection, which includes cover for time spenty off work, cover to re-instate your identity, repair credit files etc. It also includes software to use on your computer to guard your identity and alerts from Experian via e-mail or SMS when any changes occur on your credit file.
3. Gadget insurance for up to three gadgets (inc mobile phones) that are under 18 months old at the time of registration. It is necessary to register the gadgets to get cover. You can change gadgets covered at any time. Gadgets does not include computers.
4. Breakdown cover for the "main" vehicle in your household. It is not necessary to register the "main" vehicle with the insurer.
Please note this information is based on my memory following a discussion with a banking adviser; no printed details are yet available on this new account so apologies if the info is not 100% accurate.
I know that Martin is not a fan of fee-paying accounts but in the right circumstances they can be beneficial.
