Bank/BS groupings

Options
Forgive me but I just want to get a definitive answer & find the chart a little confusing. If I savedwith Bradford & Bingley, Birmingham Midshire, West Bromwich, A&L, Nationwide & The AA would they all be in different financial institution groupings as savings providers? Thanks.

Do you mean This page under 'What counts as a bank?' table about half way down? It is quite easy to work out.

    From that link; -
'What counts as a bank? able
The table below shows you which banks are standalone and which are the same institution. Any banks shaded in the same colour (except white!) share the protection, so if you have money in a combination of them you only get one lot of the FSCS safeguard. As an aid to the colour blind, institutions which share an FSA registration are also number coded in brackets.

Therefore, Bradford & Bingley, West Bromwich,A&L and Nationwide are all white in the table, so each bank/bs will be protected up to £35000 savings.

The AA and Birmingham Midshires are both green & number 3 in the table, so money in both is only protected in total to £35000

Another matter on this notice if an offshore account was held with one of the recognised banks would savings recieve any protection?
