GCSE retake question?

Hiya! I did my GCSE's last year and decided I wasn't happy with the grade I got for English Language. I did it last year with OCR and got a C, on my exam certificate it says I got : English Language C
I went to evening classes this year to what I thought was English Language classes, but on my certificate I got today it just says: English - A.
So, have I now got myself another GCSE or does it still replace the old one, or both the old english grades?
I did English Lit and Lang seperately last year with OCR and i'm confused now as to where this one, just called English by AQA fits in.
Thanks for any help!

Looking at the AQA syllabus, it's definitely not a Literature paper so I would consider it as English Language. You certainly can't count it as having 3 different GCSEs in English! Is there any particular reason for your worries or is it just a general desire for information?

My son's AQA results slip just says English for English Language and English Lit for English Literature. When I did A-Level English Language it just said English on that as well.

Your new grade for English Language just replaces your old grade for English Language. So you still have two GCSE's; one in English Language and one in English Literature. Any reason why you bothered re-taking? I can understand people re-taking fail grades but not pass ones.. not at GCSE level at any rate!!
