Pretty sure these are correct???
Sockets - 32a
Cooker - 42a
Lighting - 6 a
Shower - 42a?
shed - lighting and sockets? or just lighting? 16a?
I suggest you get an electrician to provide, as you will want some spaces for expansions etc0 -
Thanks flang
yeah i will be getting a sparky in, i just like to know whats what before hand to stop them tying it on.
Would i need a seperate mcb fitting in the shed or just have it all in the house
How long would i be looking at to replace m old one with new, is it a simple straight swap
Thanks0 -
I’m not sure what the regs are on having electric on the shed but I would have thought it would need a separate RCD.
Usually it’s a straight forward swop however it really depends how the existing wiring is wired up.
Usually done within the day.0 -
Buying the consumer unit yourself is a bad idea!
Lets say you buy one and the sprakie installs it and then there is a problem and you call the sparks back. He checks it and it is a faulty MCB or RCD and needs replacing, he never suplied these and so will charge you for sorting out the problem, whereas if he supplies and fits then it is his problem until the guarantee runs out.
Not sure about replacement consumer units, but you may have to have a double rcd protected one fitted to meet the new regs, you should have some circuits protected by an RCD for definate, such as the shower and the outside electrics as an absolute minimum.
Replacing a consumer unit is normally ony a couple of hours, unless there are problems or if some of the wiring also needs updating.0
