What fabulous news! As for when to go, I'd say that Basel is probaly better in the summer, but the Alps, although nice at any time of year are absolutely fantastic in the winter. Plus, its always more expensive in the skiing season so you'd be getting more than your money's worth. If it were me, I think I'd pick end of Feb/early March as there will be loads of snow and the days will be getting longer and the sun stronger. Does it say which glacier you will be lunching on? I've been on a few and its great!
Thanks Zebedee,
From what I've been told... aslong as I don't go Christmas, New Year or 'significant local dates' (which I'm aware is worded in such a way that it could include allsorts of things) - I can go whenever I want. At the moment I'm working on the assumption that 'significant local dates' means local festivals and such like rather than just popular times for tourists.
There's loads of pro's and cons to both sides of the equation. I'll be thinking long and hard about this one, thanks for your suggestions.
It doesn't say which glacier... I wouldn't imagine it would be too far from Gstaad though. This is all so bizarre... I can't believe I'm typing about this mega holiday... that's mine... flippin' eck.don't blow out other people's candles to make your own burn brighter...0 -
