An absolute dream come true, thanks to rrickyuk

Well, I've slept on the news and it still doesn't feel real.

I got a phonecall yesterday while I was cooking dinner from a lovely lady called Jackie at Times Travel Magazine. At first I thought 'She's gonna sell me a subscription and my dinner's gonna burn while I'm trying to politely get rid'.

Oh, how wrong I was (well, the dinner DID end up in the bin)...

Whilst I stood with my mouth opening and closing (think goldfish) the lovely lady proceeded to tell me that I'd won their recent competition of 4 nights in Switzerland (WOW!)....

.... then it got a bit surreal.

Included in the prize is...

Business Class Flights, Limo transfers, All evening meals and breakfasts, Penthouse Suite for 2 nights in Basel (and looking at the hotel's website - the penthouse has a rooftop jacuzzi looking over the city), private tour of Basel's highlights and art museum, cheese tasting and a VIP Rhine River cruise.

Then it's off to Gstaad for the next 2 nights to stay in another 5 star hotel in their Chalet suite, use of their spa and a spa session followed by possibly the most amazing (and terrifying... thing... ever....) a helicopter ride over the alps and champage brunch (with a butler!!) up on a 3000m glacier.

:j O :j M :j F :j G :j

As you can imagine, after listening to all this, my jaw (and the rest of me) needed scraping off the floor.

The funny thing is, 2 weeks ago - we cancelled our summer holiday because we couldn't afford to take the time off work (we're self employed and jobs have been thin on the ground). Pathetically, our summer holiday was 4 nights in a travelodge in Birmingham :o which although embarrassingly cheap and rubbish, we would have loved - and I've been mardy about it ever since.

Think I can stop being mardy now?!

I'm so, so grateful to rrickyuk for posting - thank you from the bottom of my heart. And I'm really sorry to everyone else, I know a couple of you REALLY had your eye on this one - but it's MINE! bwahahhaa! (You can have the next one!)

I'm already having a fab time... I've researched how to pronounce Gstaad properly, I've had the maps out, I've bookmarked some German language sites so I can brush up on my not even GCSE German, I've googled Basel 'till I'm blue in the face... I'm an anticipation wh*re and nerdy 'planning' type so I'm in my element :o

These are the 2 hotels (owned by the same company) if anyone's even still reading my essay.

We've got a dilemma though - We don't know whether to go in Summer or Winter  It looks so beautiful in the Winter... magical... but I know that in the Summer (with all the wildflowers) it would be beautiful too. If anyone has any recommendations, I'm all ears 'cos we're totally umm-ing and ahh-ing about that one.
don't blow out other people's candles to make your own burn brighter...
