Advice on fitting cat flap in front door?

Options
Can anyone advise me on fitting a cat flap in my front door? I am assuming I would need a carpenter. Don't want to ruin the door or pay a fortune.

Assuming your front door is solid wood, you'll need a jigsaw plus a wood bit which is thicker than the blade in the jigsaw.

Mark out the section which needs removed
If it's square Drill a hole in two diagonal corners
place the jigsaw blade into the hole and cut to the corner
repeat in the other diagonal hole
fix cat flap to door with screws

if the section is round, one drilled hole will do

Does your front door have a letterbox?

Do you want someone to nick your post?

Got a cage to catch mail so no-one will be able to nick it from the floor.
  • why not the back door?
