Have a insurance claim going through at the moment for a carpet and sofa, they have made me a offer on the carpet excess the 100 pounds for the claim and they have given me a figure if i live with the carpet they will offer me 165 pounds, the sofa is one of a matching pair 3/2 setter, the 3 seater is damaged they sent someone around to see if it can be repaired but it has now got a hole in it,churchill have said they will only offer to replace the 3 seater even though it is a one of a matching pair, they said they will make me a offer if i can live with the damage or if i want it replaced they will only give me a vocher to replace the one damaged,so i will have odd sofas,is this correct ?never had to deal with this before, also instead of vouchers to their direct stores am i within my rights to ask for the money to choose were i want to buy them from?i have new for old policy.

You usually have to pay a premium on top of the normal premium to get cover for matching sets when only part of the set is damaged. Did you? If so point this out to your insurer.
You can always ask for cash instead of vouchers, and see what happens - though expect a cash settlement to be less.0 -
There was a really old ruling from the Financial Ombudsman Service that said unless your policy specifically states otherwise, an insurer should pay 50% of the cost of replacing undamaged parts of a set. I'd be tempted to ask them to review their offer.
Here's a link to the article. It was from October 2001, so is quite old:

It does depend on the terms of your policy. Because of the amount of fraudulent claims in the past a lot of insurance companies will now only provide to replace the damaged item unless the terms and conditions say otherwise.Wins: Feb - Sam and Amanda DVD, Nanny Series, £50 Mother Day Goodies box0
