SKY+ in other rooms via COAX

Options
I believe there is a way to pipe sky around the home via coax points. I have moved into a new property which has coax aerial points in most rooms. I have sky+ in my lounge. There is no tv aerial in the property, just a pile of coax cables in the loft which run to all the points in the rooms. How can i send the sky signal to the points in each room. I only want sky in two other rooms. I did read on the internet that this product would do the job but i have no idea how to connect evrything together? Will it work without a TV aerial in the loft?

Any help would be appreciated.

I have the 6-way version of the same product you have. Have a closer look at the box for it as it shows you exactly how to achieve what you're after.

Hold on, you haven't bought this product yet have you... Ok, well the answer is yes it will do the job. How it works is...

Your Sky+ box will have a coaxial output on the back to which you connect one of your coax cables that route up into your loft. You connect this cable to the input connection of the amplifier. You then connect to the outputs of your amplifier the cables that route down to your other rooms. You'll probably need some of the connectors shown in the "Related items you may need." section at the bottom of the website you've linked to above.

I've not done it yet with my new Sky+ box but I did it with my old regular Sky box and there was some setting in a menu where you enabled the secondary output. You then need to tune your TV's in your other rooms to pick up the signal from your Sky+ box.

Once you've done this then you'll be able to watch the Sky channel that your Sky+ box is tuned to in your other bedrooms. You can also buy another Sky remote with an adaptor that allows you to control the Sky box from your other rooms. I can't remember what they are called but I saw them in Tesco last week.

If you're still not sure then the box for that amplifier has a clear diagram of where to connect your cables on the back of the box encase you're still not sure when you're doing it.
  • Hi

The item you require to control the main Sky box from other rooms is the "Magic Eye"

I have my Sky box in the loft.

I then feed the signal to all rooms in the house via the coax cables.

A video sender controls the Sky box from the sitting room downstairs.

I don't think there is any reason why my set up wouldn't work for Sky+ as well.

If you have problems with your "magic eye" or wiring there's some information here: http://sam-radford.me.uk/tvlink.htm
