  • Have you thought of the old fashioned 'lantern' decorations.

a good craft and colouring site I use at Beaver Scouts is DLTK's printable crafts for kids site.

So I've added some more ideas to my list. I found a lot of bits in the pound shop, home bargains and at boot sales. Home bargains had some great christmas craft packs in - one at 1.99 and one at 49p.

    1.Christmas tree snowmen decorations
    2.glittery fir cone tree decorations
3.snowflakes(where you just fold paper, cut the holes and then open out to reveal snowflake)
    4.christmas cup cakes
    5.cotton wool snowman pictures
6.paper chains(found some in the works - pre-cut and gummed)
7.white paint on black card painting(snow scenes)
    8.Painted mould decorations (home bargains)
    9. Christmas tree fans (basically a green paper folded into a fan and decorate with glitter and sequins and turned upside down it looks like a chirstmas tree
10.Reindeer flannels(making for dd's teachers so she can help with these)
    11. Reindeer lollies
12.Christmas cards (pack that you paint and add photo in yourself)
    13. Christmas sticker book
    14. Christmas coloring book
15.christmas dot to dot book (got these 3 books for 10p at a boot sale)
16.Build santa in his chimney(pound shop)

    still need another 8 things/ideas???
  • Get a piece of acetate or other thick plastic and pour a load of pva glue on it so that it spreads out to about 4" wide. While it's still wet sprinkle it with glitter and sequins. Once it's "decorated" (lets face it with 3 year olds it's always "more is more") let it dry and then peel it off the plastic, thread som ribbon through it and hang it on the tree.

Also paper chains - the ELC sell paper ready cut into strips and you just lick it and make your chain. Cost a couple of quid I think but you get loads.
  • We are doing this too - some of the things we've got that aren't mentioned are:
Letter to FC - cut out pics from argos catalogue, decorate with glitter
On Christmas Eve we decorate pillow cases to leave out for FC to fill!
Snow globes with an old jar, a christmas decoration and some glitter (and hot glue!)
    Potato print wrapping paper
Gluing christmas cards made from cutting out last year's christmas cards!

love these ideas vicki and charlotte, will be adding to my list soon - never thought I could do the letter to santa one day, and the snow globes too (my husband has collected some jars for doing something like that so I'll steal them for my 24 I think).

    Hi Scattymum

i actually want to do 24 activities/crafts so slightly different from you as I actually don't want to do loads of crafty things but other activities like those mentioned on the OrganizedChristmas webbsite eg Christmas campout (did this last year and it was a huge sucess!)

I might start another thread to see if I can get a few more ideas as my 2 are 10 and 7 and want to try and include hubby in the activities too!

Thanks for pointing out this thread was good to read through and I have some of these on my list to do!

    :)

they're Christingles - here are the instructions how to make them; easy peasy, children love doing them :)http://www.bbc.co.uk/tees/content/articles/2007/12/05/christingle_feature.shtml

Another thing could be a calendar - you know those littleones that you get at the stationers for keeping in your purse - make, draw or paint a nice scene then stick the calendar underneath.

*** just thought of a couple more that the children used to do - making Christmas bell decorations using little fromage frais pots or egg boxes. The coloured pots only needed a bit of sparkle & a loop attached & the egg holders were cut up, painted or had little balls of tissue paper glued on & loops attached.

And painting through a paper doiley - paint paper dark blue, (night sky), then use the doiley as a stencil. White or silver paint makes beautiful pattern like snowflakes :)***

A wax picture? - using coloured crayons, colourwashing with paint then using a small spoon or a lolly stick, perhaps, to reveal the picture underneath.
