would you miss if you were living in Korea?
My sister is coming home next week after a year teaching English in Korea.
I would like to put on a bit of a spread with food she will have missed.
Had intended to ask her but her internet has gone down so can't contact her.
What food would you miss most? any ideas on what to make?

I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.

I will try to find the link for you, but I used to know of a website where Brits abroad lamented about foods they missed
Found it!

i spent a year living in France and Spain and although I preferred the Spanish food anyway:D I did miss some English things.
I had a week back in England after france and before going to Spain and had actually made a list of what I was going to eat that week:rotfl:
I don`t know if you mean snacks or main meals but it was quite simple things that I missed.
bacon sarnies with brown sauce, beans on toast, and I missed roast dinners and comfort food like shepherds pie etc and pies, and fish and chips.
also missed english puds like apple crumble and custard.
Also english chocolate.....european stuff just isnt the same!
I am sure she will enjoy whatever you put on for her...she will just be pleased to see everyone again!0 -
Egg and bacon sandwiches!
Shepherds Pie
Roast Beef, Yorkshire puddings and proper gravy
TrifleShould've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

I suppose I'm not very typical of this country as I don't drink much tea, I don't much like English chocolate and I don't like baked beans at all. I like Marmite but I don't really miss it when I don't have it.
The main things I did miss when living abroad (South America) were:
1. Cheese - local cheese was nice, but mostly soft and mild, and the cheddar-type cheese in the supermarkets was expensive and not very nice. So I had cravings for some good mature cheddar/stilton etc
2. Pickle - to go with the cheese! Not a big deal, but nice to have.
3. Marmalade - I love proper marmalade made from bitter oranges - the nearest thing available locally was a kind of sweet orange jam that just wasn't the same.
4. Curry - I made curries myself a few times, but I missed being able to go out for a curryLet's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning0
