I will have One ticket free - eldest is hitting town tonight after work, so don't think he will be up for an early start.
I will take it with me, and give it to someone there. So any of you MSErs who are going and are short of tickets - wear a RED CARNATION in your hat or button hole, and I will see if I spot anyone in need.
Otherwise I will just give it out to whoever is nearest when we get to the ticket area.
Never been to one of these before, and half looking forward to it, and half dreading it.
I have even been and bought some ear plugs - as I can imagine youngest demanding to go home after 5 mins if it is too loud !!
Fingers crossed the weather is as nice as it has been today.
  • i've still mine if anyone wants them. first come first served.

    Hi All
Well, I was VERY unsure about this freebie, but despite my reservations, I packed sandwiches last night, and set the alarm.
Dragged my butt out of bed in the wee small hours and.........had an absolutely fantastic time !!!
Very noisy, as peeps had mentioned, but I had bought ear plugs - and there were loads free from Peugeot if anyone forgot.
NEVER ever been to anything like this before - but very hypnotic watching cars flying around and around. Wouldn't have believed it possible to be hooked, but I am.

Obviously the weather being just brilliant, made it a fantastic day.
Kids did the 8 race, 8 lane scalectrix race, shooting a football at the holes, and at the net to get the speed...thing !"what do I know of such things"
Plus the gladiator game with pugil sticks....quite fancied a go myself.;)"wink"
Also managed to give my spare ticket to a woman who was just about to buy  "Quelle horreux" a couple of tickets at the gate. So that was one less she had to pay for "Big clap"

Really really glad I went, in fact it was the kids wanting to leave before the end "typical" and dragged me home.
I didn't see any red carnations.....but I did see hundreds of very happy peeps, and the Peugeot stand was full.
Many thanks again to op, and to everyone for their helpful advice "Big clap hands"
A very enjoyable and unique "day out with Mum" that got a resounding thumbs up from everyone !!!!!!

Well we came home early (me and DH with 2 boys 12 and 15)- I'm afraid we thought it was a total washout....nothing really there to interest older boys (well, not ours anyway!!), and after about 10 minutes of watching the cars go round we all got very bored. Each to their own I suppose...!

Travelled about 2.5 hrs to get there too, and got up about 5am.

At least we can say we've been to Silverstone, but don't think we'd want to go back there again.

Many thanks anyway to the OP, I'm sure there would have been lots of people who enjoyed it, but just not our cup of tea.

Just wanted say to a HUGE thanks to those who sent me tickets - hubby, son, daughter, and 6 others went today and we had a fantastic time!!! It was well worth getting up at 5:30am to get there :)

Peugeot area was great for my little ones, lots for them to do, and we loved the race itself - I've never been to Silverstone before but i absolutely LOVED it!!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

  • Hi to all, glad you got to go Wammy, and use our spare tickets, you are welcome! Hope Wozwoz enjoyed it too?

My Hubbie and Son who is 4 had a fab time, watching the cars for abit, walking round looking at car things for sale etc. Unluckily at the small cars for kids, the queue was massive, and most of the other activites for kids were also very, very busy, OK if your happy to queue for ages.

The sun was shining on us though and the organisation at the car parks were wonderful, we couldn't believe how many people turned up! A fab freebie.:D
  • Thanks to OP .... we had a great day out and the weather was lovely too.

8 of us went (6 adults and 2 kids) and we had a fantastic time. The stands weren't too crowded and the caps they gave to everyone were good quality.

The main race was fun to watch (and I wouldn't say I was a massive race fan before this).

Can't wait to go to next years too!
