Sandisk shambles, looking for advise...

OK, I'm looking for a little guidance here.
About 3 months ago I bought a Sandisk Micro SD Card 8gb with a Mobile Mate Reader (tiny keyring usb reader for the micro sd card).

After about 3 weeks the SD card failed and the product was sent back to Sandisk for a replacement. I sent back the entire package card, reader, packaging.

When I finally received my replacement I got a new 8gb Card, but no mobile mate reader, just a SD-Micro SD Adaptor.

I phoned their customer support line and was told that they don't make the product anymore and therefore couldn't replace it. (Which is a lie as they still have it as an available product on their website - they just don't sell the 8gb cards with it anymore).

I said I wasn't happy with their response and they said they'd get in touch with head office and see if they could get one sent out, but "no promises" and I should hear back in 2 days.

Well I did hear back in 2 days, just to say they were still looking into it.
Now 1 1/2 weeks later, they've closed the support request with no response at all.

Surley they are not allowed to do this. I bought the card at a premium to get it with the reader (as my standard SD card reader in the computer doesn't read High capacity cards) so now I've got a new card, but no way to use it.

I'm planning on phoning them up again today (once the US call center wakes up), but I would like to know where I stand legally and what approach to take with them. The card was bought from a UK supplier of sandisk products.

Thanks
Andrew

Are not MobileMate Readers cheap and freely available ? If you don't get any satisfaction from your call I would write it of to experience and buy a new one.

  • The only place I know that sells them is argos and there are £12.99, it's become a bit of a principal thing too, as just to get a replacement card has been a struggle taking from early June up until now.

They can quite easily send back to you the one you returned to them. Pester them until they do.
